Enduring Your First Marathon: with Elite Health Services Physical Therapist, Dr. Tiffany Sudol
Part of my marathon training is staying strong, which I am able to achieve through weight training. Personally, I love lifting weights and really enjoy feeling the “burn” and the soreness that often follows a workout. However this week, I learned from my Personal Trainer Mike Simon, that it’s not always a good idea to experience this type of soreness while training for a marathon. Instead, he introduced me to the “new’ way of weight training that would better support my runs by not making me too sore; since I am already stressing my tissues with the impact of running. Mike gave me specific drills that would help improve my running form and weight training exercises specifically aimed at building my strength for the action of running. Who knew running could be so complex?
