Physical Therapy at EHS

World-class hands-on physical therapy to relieve your pain and enhance your life.

EHS physical therapists work with elite athletes, active adults and adolescents of all ages with varying injuries including orthopedic, sports, neurological, cardiac, pulmonary and pre/post surgical cases.   We have a proven track record of achieving excellent results, exceeding our patients' expectations and getting our patients to reach their full potential.  Our team of physical therapists have advanced training and specialize in the following areas of physical therapy:

  • Manual Therapy – a proven hands on approach to restoring musculoskeletal alignment, mobility and strength. Manual physical therapy is an effective group of techniques designed to decrease pain and improve range of motion and flexibility to stiff joints and muscles. Manual physical therapy involves one-on-one, hands-on, active and passive intervention techniques. We utilize various massage, joint mobilization and muscle re-education techniques to restore normal biomechanical movement of the involved joint. Combined with prescriptive therapeutic exercises and patient education, we have had enormous success rehabilitating any type of muscle skeletal injury.

  • Sports Medicine – Restoration of sports specific movement patterns to improve efficiency and performance for all athletes. Once our athletes have met specific criteria in areas of strength, balance, mobility and stability, our physical therapists incorporate sport specific exercises to get our athletes out of therapy on back onto the field. Our sports medicine programs feature a unique blend of hands-on manual therapy, coupled with the latest in sports medicine and performance enhancement techniques. EHS Physical Therapists have experience working with injured athletes at the professional, collegiate, and recreational levels. Our patients seek us out when they experience pain or a decline in performance as a result of a muscle skeletal injury. We understand the demands of your sport and can expertly treat athletes suffering from acute, chronic and/or disabling pain that prevent you from performing at your highest level. Our job is to get you back on the field as quickly as possible and to educate our athletes how to prevent future injuries

  • Neurological Rehabilitation – Hands on techniques to integrate neurological and muscle skeletal system to improve movement, balance, gait and independence. Common problems of patients with neurological disorders include paralysis, vision impairment, poor balance, inability to ambulate, and loss of functional independence. Therapists work with patients to improve these areas of dysfunction using a variety of techniques to both stimulate and integrate the musculoskeletal system with the nervous system.  We take an integrative approach to treat balance, ambulation, strength, coordination and integration back to the highest level of funciton.  A specific technique we utilize is PNF, developed by Maggie Knott and integrated by the Institute of Physical Art.  This is a powerful manual therapy technique that integrates functional movement patterns to increase independence.
  • The Alter-G Anti-gravity Treadmill - EHS is home to the world's first and only treadmill using NASA based anti-gravity technology.  Alter-G treadmills are designed to be used for lower body injury and surgery rehabilitation, aerobic conditioning, weight control and reduction, sport specific conditioning programs, neurologic retraining and geriatric strength and conditioning.
