David Potucek, MSPT, CFMT takes us through the one-hour custom orthotic process at Elite Health Services:
After an initial consult with your EHS Physical Therapist, the orthotic fabrication process begins on the treadmill. You therapist will have you walk for 1-2 minutes and capture your gait pattern on video.
Next, you are taken to a private room and placed prone on a treatment table to allow the therapist to cast both of your feet while they are in a natural, neutral position.
The casting material quickly dries and is removed.
Finally, the process concludes by recording several specific measurements of your feet and ankles in various positions. The video clip, the castings and the measurements are all sent off to our lab for fabrication.
Once we receive your custom orthotics back from the lab, we’ll contact you ASAP to schedule a quick, 10 minute insertion appointment to ensure that everything feels good and fits properly.
Turn around time from fabrication to insertion is approximately two-three weeks, however the lab we work with does offer a rush service should you need them quicker.David Potucek, MSPT, CFMT has been practicing orthopedics and sports physical therapy since graduating with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Springfield College in 2004.
