Dr. Joseph Vella joined Elite Health Services after completing his physical therapy education at Long Island University of Brooklyn. While attending Long Island University’s DPT program Joseph served as the class president for all three years, as well as the New York Physical Therapy Association Student Liaison for two. In addition, Joseph was the recipient of the College of Health Professions Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence.
Throughout graduate school, Joseph served as a medical volunteer for the NYC marathon before going on to complete it to raise money and awareness for the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation. During this time Joseph also spent four months training at the headquarters of the Institute of Physical Art in Steamboat Springs, CO in preparation for the Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) credential which he will sit for in August 2020.
Prior to graduate school, Joseph earned his Bachelors in Exercise Science from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield CT., where he filled his free time playing rugby and ice hockey for the university’s club programs.
Joseph clinical interests include; sports injuries, orthopedic injuries, spinal pain, and optimizing performance.
